LOCATION: AMALFI DRIVE, PACIFIC PALISADES
The client wanted to replace the dated brick hardscape with an elegant teak deck. But first, we had to go below-grade to begin, as this required the EXCAVATION of significant amounts of dirt. This was because an integral part of this project was to avoid any damaging effects to the venerable Chinese elm that shaded the patio area.
Beyond the mechanics of the proper foundation, we wanted to add beautiful detailing as well. These included picture frame borders for the deck and multiple rain grates. Additionally, we designed a curved built-in bench w/ hinged lid-panels. (see: Other Work: Teak Bench)
