The entryway panels and gate started with us welding up 2 1/2" steel tube inner frames. After the steel was primed, we attached it to the upper pivot and underground motor. We then attached the custom milled Sapele hardwood jambs. Next, we fastened on 3/4" marine-grade plywood. Finally, everything was clad in 3/4" clear cedar shiplapped boards and stained/sealed. The finished size of the opening is 15' wide. Each section measured approx. 5' feet wide by 12' feet tall. The gate itself, weighed in roughly at around 450 lbs. It was originally designed to have an hydraulic self-closer. But we convinced the clients that it might be be better suited to install an underground gate motor to assist in the opening/closing function.
